It is imperative to follow the instructions properly, as any lapse in the sequence will automatically result in a failed attempt and the printer will not respond to commands. Like all printers, Canon has some access points (also known as hubs or routers) that have an automatic connect button or WPS (Wi-Fi Protected Setup). Using the WPS button is the easiest way to connect; however, if you don't have one, there is an alternative method available to allow the connection to prevail. The instructions are detailed below:

For Windows users, use the CD that came with the printer and run the installation. For MAC users, download the manuals and software by selecting "select your product" on the PIXMA range page.

A splash screen should appear, then click "next", enter the password to allow the "helper tool" to install.

Once you are ready, select between USB or wireless connection, click. The sequence will not work if the printer is not turned on.

The printer is now ready, the next step is to connect to the "network". When "wireless setup" appears on the screen, press and hold the WiFi button on the printer until the orange alarm lamp blinks twice, then release it.

At this stage, the blue (WiFi) lamp should blink rapidly and the green power lamp is on. Please note that the "network connection" will be temporarily disabled during setup.

Then the "license agreement for Canon products" and "Allow all installation wizard processes" should appear on the screen, click.

The printer model and the name (SSID) of the wireless will appear on the screen. And finally conclude the connection setup. Perform a test print.
